There are traditional markets in Okpo, Gohyeon and most other towns in Geoje. The largest on the island is in Gohyeon. Traditional Markets have covered shopping alleys, selling local produce. Here you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and meat, frozen meat (including imported ones – lamb, beef), clothes, etc.
A traditional Korean market is an interesting place to shop and go sightseeing. Come prepared with cash in hand as a few pf the smaller sellers do accept debit and credit card for min. spend of KRW 5,000.
OKPO TRADITIONAL MARKET entrance is located at the Okpo daechop-ro 3-gil. There are many shops and local restaurants, as well as clinics around the market.
GOHYEON TRADITIONAL MARKET area is bigger than Okpo with a larger selection of fresh fish and seafood. You can explore Gohyeon Traditional Market between Gohyeon-ro and Geojejungang-ro 19-gil.
> SUPERMARKETS
LOTTE MART, GS MART and NH MART all have a home delivery service. To use this service you need to arrange for a Membership Card at the shop. You can also register on their apps for home delivery.
Please note that most supermarkets are closed on 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month.
Okpo NH Mart does NOT close on these days. Lotte Mart supermarkets located within Lotte Department stores in Busan also remain open on these Sundays. You can check on: http://www.ishomeplusopen.com for the closing schedule of the supermarkets.
