When you order a taxi using your mobile phone, you will receive text messages in Korean with information about the taxi, including the car registration number and how far it is from your pick up point. This gives you an idea of how long you will need to wait and which taxi is intended for you.
DARI UNJEON (DRIVING SERVICE)
If you drive your car to an event or dinner, but do not plan to drive home, you can ask staff at the restaurant to call for a driver who will drive you home in your own car.
KAKAO TAXI or KAKAO T
‘Kakao Taxi’ or ‘Kakao T‘ is the Korean local taxi-hailing service app launched by Kakao Mobility in 2017. The service is literally the Korean version of ‘Uber. The service is offered in Korean, English and Chinese languages. It also offers driver booking, parking space sharing, and real-time traffic information service. The service provides an easy-to-use user interface and is English friendly.
> BUS
Goyheon Terminal is the central bus terminal in Geoje. It provides services to both intercity and local buses. Local buses are moving away from paying with cash. You can get a T-money card from most convenience stores or download the app on your phone and link to your bank account.
LOCAL BUSES
To use the local buses on Geoje Island you enter the bus from the front and pay the fee KRW1500. If you are transferring, remember to tap your card on exiting, this will apply additional discount to your next bus fare within 20 minutes of exiting the bus. The fee is the same for any destination on the island. The main local Geoje bus services are:
* 10/11 – Gohyeon Bus Terminal to Jangseungpo via Okpo
*16 – Gohyeon Bus Terminal to Aju-dong, via Okpo
*22/23 – Gohyeon Bus Terminal to Gujora, via Okpo, Jangseungpo, Jisepo and Wahyeon
*55 – Gohyeon Bus Terminal to Hakdong and Haegeumgang.
If a bus number is followed by -1, this bus travels through Okpo town centre.
*3000 & *4000 Fast Bus from Gohyeon Bus Terminal to Neungpo and Gujora
Run by a different bus company, this red bus goes through the Aju tunnels, so much faster than the regular city bus. It stops in Jangseungpo. Buses run on an hourly basis, departing Gohyeon Terminal at 20 minutes past the hour and returning from Neungpo at 10 minutes past the hour. (Last updated 2023)
BUS SCHEDULE
Local island bus schedules and route information are available on the Geoje local government website. The site is only available in Korean, but you can select bus numbers from the drop down menu on the left hand side of the page. This will give you a route map for the bus and a timetable of departure times from the main departure point.
Should you want to download the Bus timetables go to the website and press the icon example below and select which bus route you require. The file will download in excel and you can select from the tabs. This is all in korean but if you know your stop in Hanguel you can search for it using the cntrl+F function.
You can also use NAVER map app to check real-time bus information for buses near your location.

Bus 2000 – Yeoncho/Okpo/Deokpo to Hadan Subway Station, Busan. This bus departs from Suwol, passing through Okpo and along the east coast through the smaller suburbs. There are two bus stops in Okpo to Hadan Subway Station in Busan. One is located at the first bus stop coming down from Route 14; the other is at the stop just past the petrol station, going up the hill towards Deokpo. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or T-Money card/app can be used. Information on other bus stops in Geoje is available on the WelCOMM agency link, given above. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes.
GEOJE BUS TERMINAL
The Geoje Bus Terminal is located in Gohyeon. From there one can travel with intercity buses to several destinations in Korea. Some intercity buses also depart from Jangseungpo bus terminal and stop in Okpo enroute to Gohyeon Terminal.

Some information on Busan and Seoul bus services from Geoje:
Nambu Bus Station in Seoul from Gohyeon Bus Terminal.
TIME: 05:40 until 24:00. +/- 4 hours duration. 1 midway stop (15-20 min) break.
The return ticket can be bought at the bus terminal in Seoul. Journeys can be sold out quickly so do not delay in purchasing your tickets if you need to travel on specific dates and times. Your arrival point in Seoul is Nambu Bus Terminal. This is the ONLY one of several express bus terminals in Seoul from which you can return to Geoje. There is a subway station (line 3, orange route) and a taxi rank outside Nambu bus terminal for further transportation.

Seobu Bus Terminal, Sasang in Busan from Jangseungpo Bus Terminal, via Okpo (bus stop outside the Foreigners Mart on Route 14) and from Gohyeon Bus Terminal.
Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office if boarding at Gohyeon or Jangseungpo Bus Terminals. If boarding in Okpo, you can buy your ticket from the store behind the bus stop, across the street from Lotte Mart. The bus timetable is displayed in the window. There are specific times for the bus departing from Jangseungpo/Okpo going to Gimhae International Airport. Buses to the airport also depart from Gohyeon Bus Terminal. ONLINE TICKET SALES
Note that there is no one website in English which gives information and allows you to make online bookings for intercity buses. This is because different bus terminals use different websites. Two sites which do provide an English language service are TxBus and BusTago.
1. TxBus. Bus schedules to all destinations from Gohyeon are available in English and reservations can also be made on this site. It also gives information and allows booking from Seoul Nambu to Geoje, as well as from some (but not all) other city bus terminals to Geoje. Note that only Korean cards can be used to pay when booking on this website. When you go to the bus terminal, you may need print out your ticket from the machine or show the QR code on your phone.
2. BusTago. This site provides information and allows reservations to be made online for Busan Sasang and Gimhae airport to Geoje, as well as for Incheon airport to Geoje.

> TRAIN
KTX fast train from Busan to Seoul takes 2h 50 minutes. You can book tickets online through www.korail.com.
The KTX also goes directly from Busan to Seoul Incheon Airport (approx. 3.5 hours). The KTX of Incheon airport is located in the terminal building so allows for easy access to departures and arrivals.

> BUSAN METRO
Buses from Geoje are connected with subway stations in Busan. Busan Metro offers cheap park and ride facilities to passengers near most metro stations. Car parking facilities are available during subway opening hours.
The metro fare is based on the distance range. All tickets can be purchased at “Ticket Vending Machines” or you can tap your T-money card or phone installed with the T-money app. There is an English-language option on the machines. Note that these machines only accept payment in the form of KRW1,000 bills and KRW500 and KRW100 denomination coins. You can use Money Exchange Machines located near the Ticket Vending Machines to break down large notes. Make sure that you keep your ticket until you have exited the station at your final destination, as you will need it in order to leave the Metro.
